Hawai’i Sports Mo’olelo is a blog/Web site dedicated to the stories — or, mo’olelo — about our islands’ athletes, coaches, administrators, officials and events both past and present.
Founder/author Wes Nakama (right) is a lifelong fan of Hawai’i sports and has been a sports writer for newspapers and Web sites both here and on the Mainland since his college days in the late 1980s. He graduated from the University of Hawai’i with a B.A. in Journalism in 1991.
This site is dedicated to Wes’ father, the late Sunao Nakama: a former Maui Youth Diving Champion, Baldwin High School reserve quarterback/running back/safety and starting shortstop, University of Hawai’i swimmer (breast stroke) and Fern Park youth basketball coach. And most of all, tremendous father, best friend and teller of great true stories. Thanks, Dad!!!
